It’s Not An Ad, I Promise…
Author’s Note: The Sale is now over as of today 2/21/24, however, the US Store is still open and will still sell books. There are still books you can still purchase there but I can’t say whether or not they’ll ship until Raggi finds a new warehouse here in the U.S. If you know of any warehouses that would be willing to store LoTFP books, be sure to let James Raggi IV know and you can reach him here at
Still leaving this up because these are still books I do recommend and I hope you grab some…no, all of them and , do let me know when Death Frost Doom is back in stock there. I still totally want one.

This is not an ad for The Clearance/BOGO Sale At The Lamentations of The Flame Princess US Website. It’s not, I swear. It is the very last day of it and Good Ol’ James Raggi IV (who will, no doubt, end me over this) reports that he asked for help and received better than expected in this video…
Good news all around, right?
Well there’s still time. Yep, this is going til 12am tomorrow Los Angeles time. Guess what? There’s still a whole lotta books in that store and you don’t wanna pay those high-ass prices for shipping from Finland, right? Of course, not.
I say we all become cybervikings and go a-vikingr on his U.S. Warehouse for terminating the contract with him.
Stop strapping on the armor and the animal pelts and axes. Put it down! Right now! Jeez. Calm down…
What I meant by that is go buy books. This is the best time to try this system out because it will never be this inexpensive again so here’s what I recommend and you can make some purchasing decisions based on that.
First, let’s start with the core rulebook, Rules & Magic:

Okay, I’m posting the physical books I own here and the reasons I own them, so let’s get that out of the way. This is not a huge book. It mimics the Basic/Expert rules of D&D pretty well and, the best part, you can use it to run just about any B/X game you have. Any. There are even rules for flintlock pistols and black powder muskets and things like that because it’s geared toward a 17th Century setting. That opens up the timeline a little more and you can check out this series at your leisure where my friend Lord Matteus used it to run The Temple of Elemental Evil.
#2: Carcosa

For fans of Lovecraftian Horror and Robert Chambers’ work of The King In Yellow, Carcosa delivers both of those in the world of Carcosa. You’ll encounter all kinds of weirdness on this alien world and there’s plenty of opportunities to run afoul of everyone from Hastur to Cthulhu, himself. It’s a mix of old comic-book sci-fi, adventure fantasy and The Cthulhu Mythos that is a true sandbox. That’s really all I need to say about it because that’s all that was needed to sell me on the book.
3: Towers Two

Do you like GWAR or Whargoul? Then you’ll love this. As you can see, written by Dave Brockie (who passed away while writing this work) and Jobe Bittman (We’ll come back to him later) this particular adventure centers around a sort of family feud that is not only lavishly illustrated but contains many of the same shocking themes GWAR loved to use. If you can still get your hands on this one, I recommend getting it. METAL!!!!
#4: The Adventure Anthologies:

Look, these are just good value, good bang for your buck and, like many of the books in the Lamentations of The Flame Princess game, you can use these books with any system from LoTFP, Old-School Essentials or even Basic Fantasy. Just tons and tons of adventures in these books and some of them are the classics like Death, Love, Doom, Fuck For Satan, The Magnificent Joop Van Ooms and many many others.
#5: The Unholy Trinity

Fermentum Nigrum Dei Sepulti (Black Yeast of The Buried God) is about a magical beer brewed at The Abbey of St. Christopher but something is afoot. The inn just outside the Abbey is where you’ve consumed those beers and while the properties are curative, the beds of the inn…they contain nightmares.
6x6x6: The Mayhemic Missile Method is a book of variants of the Magic Missile spell…but every time they’re cast, the wizard is engaging in some sort of self-harm…you won’t be able to unsee some of those photos or unread some of the things you’ll read
The Book of Antitheses loves to offer itself up as a tongue-firmly-planted-in-cheek treatise on ritual theory and occult practices. At the end is an adventure where The Book of Antitheses becomes an item. You know what’s in it though and you will have to deal with that in the game. Good luck. By the way, this one was written by Jobe Bittman who finished Towers Two when Dave Brockie passed on. I do recommend these three, they’re a lot of fun.
#6: Terror in The Streets

I looked at this one and thought, “Hunting a Jack The Ripper type of character through the streets of Paris in the 17th Century? Why the fuck would I not?” and that’s the question, why the hell would you not?
#7: The Staffortonshire Trading Company Works of John Williams

Yo Dawg! You need maps? Like maps of buildings in your town or maybe an inn or something? This book has you covered and it’s useful for both LoTFP and any other old-school game you have. I also call it The Lazy DM’s Guide To Iconic Buildings For Your Village. Go on, grab it, you know you need it…just get it.
#8: Earth Incubation Crisis

Okay, I know you’re looking at that cover and thinking “Whoa! Hold Up! Raven, you assured me this setting wat 17th Century. What the fuck about this shit is the 1600s?” Well, okay okay, yeah I get ya but calm yourself down. This one is a Kaiju game. Yep. The earth is basically an incubator for a colossal, world-ending Kaiju who will jet off into space after wrecking our shit and it’s up to you and your party to aid in stopping that. If you like Kaiju stuff, you’re gonna want this one as well.
#9: Strict Time Records Must Be Kept!

You know what I got sick of quick? The 1:1 time thing in D&D. I got tired of people arguing over it. I knew my fandom over LoTFP would piss people off and I snatched up a copy of this just to piss off more of them. What I found is an adventure where you are in a race against time to keep from dying…in character, anyway. In this one you’re invited to a party, you’re poisoned and now you have to try to thwart your own death. You’re surrounded by bastards, puzzles and traps with every minute passing bringing you one minute closer to your character’s demise. Think of it like an escape room.
#10: Meanderings of The Mine Mind

This is for people who like to root around in people’s heads…a lot. For this one, that’s exactly what you get to do. You’re not a neuroscientist, hell, you don’t even know basic scientific method. You’re an intrepid adventurer and you’re in here mining away for silver but the mine has a terrible secret and, once you discover it, you’ll wonder why you took this shit job.
#11: The Black Chamber

The Black Chamber is a dungeon that just starts out with weird horror staring you in the face. You have to get past all this weird horror just to get into the fucking dungeon so you can do your dungeon crawl. I got this one because it reminded me so much of Tim Harper’s Murcanto’s Lair and yeah, you can’t go wrong with this one.
#12: Green Devil Face #7:

Green Devil Face #7 is a book of Adventures, rule bits and some random tables, some of them designed by Tim Harper of Murcanto’s Lair that I mentioned before and you should also get a copy of this because the Lair does go hand in hand with Lamentations pretty well.
#13: Winnie The Shit

Again, why would you not? This is a mix of Winnie The Pooh now that it’s in the public domain along with The Island of Dr. Moreau in which Edward Bear and his hybrid friends in the 500 Acre Wood of Sussex have deemed humans “unsuitable” and will now attempt to replace them. The Pretentious Preamble of this book reads just like the opening of a Winnie The Pooh story but this thing is pretty dark and I think, as far as horror goes, this was a good use of the public domain property. I can’t wait to see the take on Steamboat Willie. Maybe even a crossover. Again, why would you not?
So those are just the books that I own in physical, let’s not even get into the PDF library I bought back in the day when Drive-Thru RPG at least tried to hide how dickish they were. In any case, go…GO! RAID THE WAREHOUSE!!! Empty That Sawmbitch!!!!
